UTILITY DEBT

Who the course is for: Advisers with basic debt counselling knowledge and experience. The course will be of interest to those who wish to extend their knowledge in relation to utility debt with an in depth look at this important area of work.

Aims:

  • To raise awareness of fuel poverty and its causes
  • To identify practical solutions to utility debt problems

  • Advising on the rights of consumers in relation to:
    • Codes of practice
    • Licence conditions
    • Rates and methods of payment
    • Other areas of dispute e.g. meter theft, beneficial user, bona fide disputes and deposits
  • Roles, functions and powers of the Regulator
