BENEFITS AGENCY

Who the course is for: This course provides a targeted introduction to the benefits which may be available for homeowners and a full working knowledge of help with mortgages available via Income Support/Jobseeker's Allowance. No previous knowledge of welfare benefits is necessary.

Aims:

  • To help advisers maximise income from the Benefits Agency for owner-occupiers on benefit

  • Overview of benefits most relevant to mortgage payers
  • Who can get help with mortgage payments?
  • Why it may be less than the full contractual payment
  • How to work out and maximize Benefits Agency mortgage payments
  • Non dependants/lodgers
  • How clients can pay mortgage costs unmet by the Benefits Agency
  • Coming off benefit - back to work incentives
