DEBT COUNSELLING MODULES I & II

Who the course is for: A two day introductory course suitable for those who are new to debt advice and/or for those for whom debt work is not a major part of the work. Ideally the two modules should be done on consecutive days.

Aims:

  • To provide an introduction to money advice skills and an overview of the debt counselling process
  • To develop participants' ability to assist those in debt in an effective, non judgemental way

  • Causes and effects of debt
  • Credit and its uses
  • Challenging debts
  • The 4 stage money advice process, including an in depth look at drafting financial statements
  • Money Advice options

  • Debt Counselling Handbook (11th Edition) and handouts
